Natural Way Organics

Hello,
This will be my very first product review; I attempted to email several companies to obtain samples and this particular company was nice enough to send me three of their bars. The name of the company is Natural Way Organics they have an extensive product line which includes shampoo, baby products, bar soap, household cleaners, bath and body, and pet shampoo. Due to the fact I have super sensitive skin I was really nervous about trying these products. However I proceeded to use all three bars in completion over a couple of weeks. I also used them on my daughter whose skin is less sensitive. I must say all of them were excellent and I had no adverse reactions. The three bars that I was sent were: Organic Peppermint Bar Soap (Stimulating Scent for Oily Skin), Organic Citrus Bar Soap (Refreshing Scent for Regular Skin), and Organic Oatmeal Lavender Bar Soap (Relaxing Scent/Dry Skin. The bar soaps that I enjoyed the best were the oatmeal lavender and the peppermint which really refreshed my oily skin. These bars are priced at 3.99 per bar on their website and the oz per bar is 3.

Ingredients=Organic Oil of Palms, Coconut, Olive and Palm Kernel, Natural Essential Oil Blend, Organic Orange oil, Organic Orange Peel and Rosemary Extract (Citrus Bar)
The peppermint bar soap had the same ingredients but had Organic Spearmint Leaves, instead of orange peel or orange oil.
The oatmeal lavender bar soap had the same ingredient but had natural lavender essential oils and organic lavender instead of spearmint, orange peel, or orange oil.

My 7 day detox

This is my hair without product before using Terressentials.

After observing other naturals talking about and viewing pictures I made the decision to try Terressential's 7 day detox; I purchased the Lemon Scent. Now keep in mind I only wash my hair once a week and I dont really do any cowashes in between unless my hair feels icky. So did I make it through the full 7 days no. After doing my third day last night I felt my hair and realized that it was starting to become dry. Im not a natural that is obssessed with length however I do want healthy hair. I came to the conclusion that I could not make it through the 7 days. I will be revisiting Terressentials as a cleanser but that will be every once in awhile considering most of my product use is all natural. One thing I do love love about this product is not only how good of a cleanser it is; but it also help stretch my hair which suffers from major shrinkage. In conclusion this product is very good for those who may use alot products with synethic materials and want to do a good cleanse. For someone who uses all natural products I would suggest using it like a bentonite clay treatment once or twice month as needed. I will post some pictures along with this post to show my hair.

Conditioners

So I have been trying to decide what my next blog post was going be about I want to make this blog a mixture of topics. Some of them may not be hair related. However in the course of doing my research I came across an article talking about the ingredients that you should specifically look for when deciding on a conditioner for your hair. I found this information to be very useful and thought I would share. There are several things to consider when looking at conditioners; the first important ingredient is fat. The conditioner should contain lots of fat, sounds kind of weird huh  It would be considered fatty alcohols these kind are good for your hair; they include cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, strearyl alcohol, and finally myristyl alcohol. The second ingredients to look for are humectants which can draw moisture from the environment to your hair. Also emollients and conditioning agents; some examples of these are propylene glycol, sodium lactate, sodium PCA, hydantion, glycerin, polyquartermium, glyceryl stearate, and centrimonium chloride. The third ingredient I was really surprised about because from previous readings it was brought to my attention that silicones are bad for your hair. However according to this article when using a deep conditioner you want find one with a few silicone ingredients. It states that not all cones are bad for your hair and some are useful. The benefits of the good cones are they make it easier to detangle your hair; keep in mind if you find a conditioner that has water and than a bunch of cones listed behind it you may want to be leary. It goes on to say that there are some cones that do not leave your hair cuticles clogged. I will do some futher research on what those are and make another blog post about it. So in summary; what I got from this article is when seeking out a conditioner look for water, fats, and humectants/emollients.

How do you moisturize??

I have seen many questions on facebook on natural pages asking this question. Ladies that have issues with dryness and are not sure what they can do to alleviate it. When I first started my natural journey I had no clue about how important it was to moisturize. I focused more on the type of products I was using and not so much on moisture. Well if I knew what I know now I would have made more of an effort to keep my hair moisturized. For me I have found that specifically moisturizing my ends has had a profound affect on my hair. It is so important to keep the ends moisturized and the products that you do put on you hair for moisture should focus on that area. Why? Its the oldest part of your hair and if its not given the proper tlc that is when breakage will occur which we don't want. To me the best method to keep in moisture is LOC method, leave in, oil, and cream; for those of you that have drier hair I would suggest jojoba oil or coconut oil these two oil I found for me are very good for retaining moisture. Some other good oils are avocado, grapeseed (heat protectant), and tea tree oil. These oils can also be mixed in your shea butter mixture...Until next time stay naturally inspired ~Lex~

My hair observations...

Over the past couple of weeks I have come to the conclusion that although I prefer to wash my hair with natural shampoo; because of some of the ingredients that cause my hair to dry out after the wash. I will be using either a no poo shampoo or a mudwash. The last time that I washed my hair I used HoneyChile Hairlove which is being given away on my blog for Valentine's Day. I parted my hair into four sections proceeded to wash each section with the mudwash. The result were amazing; I have also been using the Hibiscus Conditioner which is great as well; and wanted to try a new leave in. In the past I used Silk Elements Mixed Silk and also Garnier Fructis; out of the two the Silk Elements was the better leave in to me. So after looking at several videos on yt I came across one in particular video which showed you how to make Kimmytube leave in. Now to be straight up; I have never watched her videos but then again Im kind of a freshmen still when it comes to being natural still learning and growing :) So anyway I decided to try it for the first time today and I absolutely loved it. When I put it on my hair my curl pattern instantly popped and I had a head full of spiral curls; which is good because my hair tends to frizz as a 4a/b. As a sealant I used Reve Essentials moisture creme which is a very good product as well. One perk to it is the fact it has moisture and butter in one great for the winter months :). Its official Im product junkie...

This month will be my sixth month of going natural and over the past week or so I have purchased several hair products. Im also ashamed to say how many lol...lets just put this way I had to rearrange the bottom of my sink in bathroom. My goal is find two product lines that I can alternate between that work for me and my daughter's hair. It may take a couple months because Im doing one product a month. So my question for my lovely readers is how did you know when you had the perfect product and how long did it take you to find it??? Im also trying to set up a concise regimen for my hair which incorporates clays and rinses.
