The next step in my natural journey featuring results with HoneyChile HairLove

So ever since I started my natural journey I have been using Shea Moisture products. They have basically been my staple and part of my natural hair regimen. Im not knocking their products at all they are good and I would recommend them to new naturals that are just starting out. However I realized I wanted to check out what else is out there. What if some other product is better?; so I will start my search starting this week to find products that make my hair pop :) I have ordered several they include Reve Essentials, BASK, Darcy Botanicals, HoneyChile HairLove, Qhemet Biologics, and Naturalistics Juicy Leave in. For the next couple of weeks I will be using HoneyChild HairLove exclusively for washes and conditioner and probably Reve Essentials for moisture and seal. I will be posting pictures each week of my results. Feel free to email me if you have any question @ alexissmartin27@hotmail.com until next time stay Naturally Inspired....
I will include pictures of my results with HoneyChile HairLove this product is awesome! http://www.wix.com/honeychilehairlove/1

My hair is getting on my nerves!

Ladies,
We all have felt this way at sometime in out natural hair journey; but thing is don't get discouraged if all else fails and the hair won't cooperate create a go to style whether it be a fro, ponytail, scarf, etc....Another thing is everyone's hair is different so don't sweat trying to be like the next person. Embrace those curls and know that even if they are not flowing down your back your hair is still the bomb. If you want some variety; accessorize with some cute earrings, a headband, or some fly earrings to me some earrings will set a natural hairstyle off :) In my next blog I will be posting some different hairstyles for all natural hair lengths. I will also be doing a yt video very soon about me and my hair journey so look out. Until then be naturally inspired because NATURAL GIRLS ROCK!!!

Natural Hair Regimen

Natural Hair Regimen
It’s been about six months since my natural journey started and despite that I’m still trying to figure out a good regimen that works for my hair. There are so many products out there that claim to do this and that how do you really know what works for you??? Well to be honest being natural is very much a trial and error process that takes time. What I have learned so far personally dealing with my own hair is retaining moisture is very important. When you retain moisture your hair has the nutrients to grow and be healthy. Also be mindful of what products you use in your hair; now there are some naturals who use completely natural products. Does it really make difference?; In my opinion it depends on preference of the person and their hair.

Here are some suggestions to start a regimen find a really good moisturizing conditioner, try to keep shampooing to a minimum because of its dry factors (will discuss this further in another blog); and when you do wash your hair use a good deep conditioner or hot oil treatment before hand to prevent all the moisture from being washed away. Find a good leave-in that holds moisture in your hair; this can be difficult being as I have yet to find one that was the bomb. Keep in mind what works for one person’s hair as far as product may or may not work for you; so if you don’t get the same result don’t get discouraged try it again with different method or move on to a product that may be better. Finally if you have 4 hair type like myself find some good essential oils such as avocado oil or jojoba oil to hold in the moisture of a leave in. Also find an effective sealant because the main purpose is to keep the moisture in your hair. A sealant can be an oil or a shea butter of some sort. In future I will blog about various oils and their benefits if you have any questions don’t hesitate to email me until next time stay naturally inspired.

P.S. I’m really trying to get some followers to my blog so I will be featuring a giveaway very soon..stay tuned! Lex

Healthy Hair

We all no matter our hair type want to achieve healthy and maybe long hair. Not only does it require an effective hair regimen but is directly related to what me eat. There are several things we can do to help our hair be the best it can be. The first is drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water a day; yes I know for some this is hard to do :) However think of the benefits especially for those that have drier hair like me my hair type which is 4a/b. So I decided to do some research on natural foods that are good for your hair and will feature them in my blog.

One of the first I came across is Spinach; why is it so good for your hair??? Well it's high in antioxidants, essential vitamins, and minerals. So its almost like taking multivitamin but you can get the same benefits from spinach. Some other goodies for our hair are asparagus, mushrooms, tuna, and salmon these foods are rich in vitamins and help to relieve stress and prevent hair loss caused by stress. Just think of this way the old saying "your are what you eat" be mindful of what you put in your body because it affects all aspects including hair. Until next time be naturally inspired.....

Why I went natural....

I have been getting perms ever since I was in middle school struggling off and on with breakage, shedding, and dandruff. There were even some periods where I think I did not take care of my hair like I should have when I did have perms. So fast forward to last year; July 2011 was the last time I had a perm and I have been natural ever since. I transitioned for about a month and due to my impatience I cut my hair all off in September of last year. The main difference between my hair now and then is its natural so it healthier and also I have regimen that do each day and week. Although I wanted to go natural once before I did not have motivation nor knowledge to do so; well this time around I’m not looking back. My natural hair makes me feel empowered and being able to rock the true texture of my hair puts a smile to my face.

This blog will be memoir/ journal of my natural journey I will share tips and facts about natural hair. I will also talk about my own personal experiences and share pictures of how my hair is progressing. It is my hope from my blog that you will learn more about natural hair and maybe be inspired to try it yourself. If you have any questions about me, my journey, or just natural hair in general feel free to respond to this blog or email me. Until next time be inspired Naturally…….
